Reef Dive Centre Preserving Paradise

Now, more than ever before, the oceans need our help. Countless perils from a variety of sources threaten the delicate balance of the marine eco-system. Not only are the seas becoming contaminated in staggering quantities by garbage, especially plastics, but as a species, humans are systematically wiping out species upon which so many others depend.

"The sea, the great unifier, is man's only hope. Now, as never before, the old phrase has a literal meaning: We are all in the same boat."

Jaques Yves Cousteau

At Reef Dive Centre, we believe that a positive change, no mater how small is worth undertaking, and we like to follow the mantra 'Think Globally, Act Locally'. Our conservation division ‘Reef Conservation’ has been created with three main intentions

  • Engage in projects which aim to
    • Reduce coral damage, and improve its growth and success rates
    • Protect and re-introduce [where necessary] aquatic species which are under threat and/or are no longer evident in a previous habitat.
    • Create new coral reef structures
    • Reduce waste entering local waters
    • Remove unwanted debris and waste from the ocean surrounding Koh Tao
  • Educate our customers in a number of areas including
    • Issues affecting the worlds oceans
    • Marine ecology
    • Underwater conservation projects
  • Encourage
    • Responsible dive practices, including good buoyancy control and strict no touch policies.
    • Responsible eco-tourism, such as reducing plastic waste from carrier bags, straws and packaging.
